Director & Faculty

Tracie L. James-Wade – Executive Director

Ms. James-Wade has been dancing since the age of 5. Her formal training has included: ballet, jazz, modern and lyrical styles of dance including both liturgical and praise. For over 20 years, she has performed and taught throughout the United States with various dance companies, performing artists and groups. Most recently she was a guest performer with the Bridget Archer Performing Arts Company in New York City at the Lincoln Center. Ms. James-Wade has dedicated her life to the study of dance and desires to share her passion for the performing arts with a new generation of children.

Laura Babba – Director of Instruction/Instructor

Mrs. Babba is a graduate of Belhaven College with a B.A. in Dance. Her dance career began at the age of 5, and has grown to include extensive training in ballet, modern and jazz styles of dance. She has performed and trained throughout the United States and excels in curriculum development for pre-school and school-age children. Mrs. Babba desires to teach children not only the technique of dance, but history and discipline of this beautiful art form. 

Brittany Nunes – Dance Instructor

Ms. Nunes is a 2009 graduate of Belhaven College with a B.F.A. in Dance. She began her dance training at a young age. She has trained in ballet, jazz, modern, and contemporary. Ms. Nunes has an extensive experience as a teacher, performer and choreographer. Currently, she is a resident choreographer for TALK Dance Company.


Joy Dear – Dance Instructor

Ms. Dear is a Senior at Belhaven College who will receive her degree in History with a minor in Dance in May 2010. Her dance training has been extensive, including ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and praise/worship styles. Prior to being accepted to the Belhaven College department of dance she trained with world renowned Mississippi based Ballet Magnificat!  Ms. Dear was chosen to perform with the Moscow Ballet during the 2006 USA International Ballet Competition.  She desires to share dance with children the way it was shared with her and feels the art and discipline of dance has added so much to her life. Instructing enables her to do the same for all her students.

 

Tanikqua Barnett – Cheer Instructor

Ms. Barnett is a Sophomore at Jackson State University, where she is a member of the cheer squad. While in her hometown of Memphis, she was a member of the Memphis Elite All-Stars a powerhouse in the world of All-Star cheer who consistently placed in national competitions. In addition, she served in leadership positions on the White Station High School cheerleading squad.  Ms. Barnett understands from personal experience that a competitive squad begins with proper training.
